CHRISTMAS ISLAND | AUSTRALIA
Feel like you’re going on an overseas trip without technically leaving Australia. Christmas Island is the setting for one of the largest wildlife migrations in the world. Where millions of red crabs make their way from the inland forests to the ocean where they mate and spawn. It was described by Sir David Attenbourgh as one of his greatest tv moments. It truly is one of the wonders of the natural world.
The mass spawning event also brings in large filter feeders like whale sharks and manta rays. Spinner dolphins are also seen in the waters around the islands and a large number of sea birds call Christmas island their home.
